Rio / Bahia Brazil

I went to Brazil in January of 2002.  I wish I could have stayed until Carnival but maybe that's okay because the reveling and dancing was non stop anyway.

The pace in Brazil is a little different from what I'm used to here in New England.  People always seems to be happy, giving thumbs up, for just about everything.  Things will get done in it's own time.

I lost my watch in the surf on the beaches of Ipanema in Rio.  Normally I'm very time obsessed, but here I found myself not caring about time.  Party to sunrise.  Sleep past noon.  Have dinner at midnight.  And another day goes by.  No one shows up on time for anything anyway.

Yes, people here are amazingly beautiful, and are not shy about flaunting what they've got.  Wow.

Rio also has the most amazing panoramic scenic vistas from the cable car rides up to Sugar Loaf to overlooking the city at Corcovado, site of the Christ figure.

Salvador Bahia was definitely the cultural center of Brazil.  Here's is the largest population of Africans outside of Africa.  Among the most amazing things I've seen are the Capioera troops dancing impossibly fast and acrobatic.  So many stories to tell.  To bad I can't post here.  Oh well.  Thanks to my buddy Ken Khouri who took majority of these images.
